Domain Search Tips

Tip 1: Plurals - or not!

If your domain name makes sense as a plural, try both the plural and singular variations. For example computer-engineers.com and computer-engineer.com.

Tip 2: ...ers, ...ing

Try different endings to your domain name.
For example computer-engineering.com.

Tip 3: "Phonetic" spellingz

You can create modern looking and catchy domain names by replacing the correct spelling of a word with a phonetic alternative. For example you could replace "s" with "z" as shown above, or replace "q" with "kw" as in kwik

Tip 4: Register misspellings too!

Some words are easyily mispeled. If your domain name falls into this category, then you can catch a large amount of misdirected traffic by registering the misspelling too! Don't forget some people have created heavily visited sites by exploiting misspelling of popular domain names.

Tip 5: Don't include the .com

Our advanced Domain Search engine will check all the popular registries for the domain name of your choice, therefore we automatically add the TLD (Top Level Domain - ie .com) to the name of your choice.

Tip 6: Only use legal characters

There are certain rules about both the format and characters used for a domain name. You can save yourself a lot of time and trouble by understanding these rules first...

Legal Chars:
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz12345676890-

Min Length:
Internic = 2 characters
All others = 3 characters
(note: almost all min length domain names are registered).

Other Rules:
Cannot start with a hyphen (-xxx.com)
Cannot end with a hyphen (xxx-.com)
No consequtive hyphens (x--x.com)
